The United Way of the Flint Hills announced that Southern Lyon County USD 252 Superintendent Dr. Michael Argabright was named the 2021-2022 Drive Chair. In this leadership role, Dr. Argabright joined United Way staff, volunteers, and corporate and community partners to raise funds to improve the education, health, and financial stability of residents in Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee, and Woodson counties.
Michael Argabright, along with 19 other dedicated men, helped SOS stop domestic violence and child abuse by raising $1,000 each to support each of our four SOS programs. Each “SOS Strong” member took a pledge to lead by example, to never blame victims, to be a positive up-stander rather than a willing bystander, to not engage in any acts of violence, to stand-up for someone in need, and to always use his voice to speak-up for what is right. “We thank these men for their commitment to helping eradicate domestic violence, child abuse…,” a statement from SOS.
Residents across the area were invited to celebrate with Newman Regional Health on Thursday as the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the hospital’s new emergency department complex. Among those on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony were representatives of Emporia and Lyon County government, including Michael Argabright. Both the city and county have partnered with the hospital in increasing ways over the past decade including helping to partially fund larger-scale equipment purchases and zoning.
